Health, Fitness, Flexibility, Strength and Balance

Within the big picture of Housing Australia's Seniors, and
specifically what we can do to maximise the likelihood of
staying put in our own homes forever, the topics of Health
and Housing are intertwined in a circular relationship -
each connected to and dependent on the other.
The health of the Senior homeowner - their level of fitness,
their flexibility, strength and balance - directly impacts
on their capacity to continue to enjoy living in
conventional housing with a minimum of modifications and
in-home care. Conversely as these faculties begin to fail
(and by the rule of "use it or lose it" they most definitely
will fail unless regularly practised) issues of downsizing,
mobility and other aids, ramps and railings all become an
inevitable reality.
Therefore we will be concentrating equally on the condition
and functionality of the housing stock occupied by
Australia's Seniors, and on the condition and functionality
of the Seniors themselves. Each Issue of this Newsletter
will feature some aspect of Health, Fitness, Flexibility,
Strength and Balance.
As with any exercise program we need to start slowly and our
first topic is the most natural, least expensive, most
accommodating exercise of all - walking.
So Take a Walk!..........and click

to read more about the benefits of walking. You can also
read about walking "warm-ups" and "cool downs"
here.
